Sunshine Coast

Took a load of Magnesium Chloride to Sechelt on the Sunshine Coast today and the weather was beautiful.  I enjoy going to the Sunshine Coast when I’m under no pressure to get anywhere by a certain time as the drive is really very scenic.  There are stretches of highway that follows the beach where you can view the ocean and Vancouver Island with all its glory.  Even the ferry ride over to Langdale from Horseshoe Bay is a scenic one and only takes 40 minutes.

After leaving the ferry terminal you will climb a very long hill into Gibsons which has a lot of history in itself.   Then you travel on to Sechelt where I had to visit the district yard and fill up their dust control tanks.  If you want to venture further you will pass through Honeymoon Bay then Pender Harbour and finally you will arrive in Earls Cove and catch another ferry to  Saltery Bay which takes about 50 minutes.  From Saltery Bay you’re only a few minutes from Powell River (I’ll be heading there in a couple of days) where if you want to, you can catch another ferry which takes you to Vancouver Island just northwest of the Comox Valley.

All in all it is a spectacular drive and especially if you have the time to stop along the way and get out to sight see a little.  I bet it would be a great ride on a bike.  Bye for now.
