Sitting Idle

Thursday, August 9th, 2012

Well here it is almost the middle of August and I’m sitting idle waiting for my mechanic to finish working on my truck.  Nothing serious just routine maintenance but he is a popular mechanic so I have to share his day with other clients which means he’ll get to me later on towards supper time.   (more…)

Burrage Airstrip

Wednesday, July 18th, 2012

Finally got to do a nice long haul to a place called the Burrage Airstrip about 300 km north of Kitwanga, BC which is on hwy 16 heading towards Terrace and Prince Rupert.  At Kitwanga, you turn onto hwy 37  and head north towards Meziadin Junction where you can head west on hwy 37a to Stewart or head NE on hwy 37 to Watson Lake, Yukon.   (more…)

Bonaparte Valley

Sunday, July 8th, 2012

Been to a few places since my last post.  One was about 35 km southwest of Williams Lake on Dog Creek Rd where I watched a small hawk perched on a telephone wire (see photo) spot his breakfast and dive down for it.  Pretty cool, although not for the field mouse I’m sure. (more…)

Busy as a Beaver

Saturday, June 30th, 2012

Well it’s been a while since I’ve posted because I have been very busy which is a good thing.  I’ve been to Anahim Lake, Ashcroft,  Bamberton and the Okanagan to name a few.  While in Kaleden (Okanagan) I got to visit with Terry whom I have worked with at a couple of companies in the past and hadn’t seen in a while.   (more…)

The Lillooet Test

Saturday, June 2nd, 2012

Put my truck in the shop last Tuesday to fix an issue with the power and the engine not sounding smooth under a load.  The mechanic that I use set my valves, added a resistor, spacers to the waste gate on my turbo and changed the codes in the brain box to see if I could get more power and smooth out the roughness in the sound of the engine for me.   (more…)

Marvin the Marmot

Friday, May 25th, 2012

On Thursday I had to run a load of magnesium chloride to  100 Mile House to the yard of Interior Roads and fill up their tank.  It was nice to get to drive a distance for a change instead of the regular short hauls I’ve been doing.  Lately I’ve been hauling back and forth from Kamloops to Abbottsford and the odd run to Sechelt. Nothing Special

I haven’t been anywhere special just doing local stuff like Chilliwack, North Vancouver and Abbottsford.  I have been to Kamloops and back twice however.   (more…)

In-Shuck-Ch Forest Services Road

Monday, May 14th, 2012

Took a load of magnesium chloride to a forest service road northwest of Pemberton called In-Shuck-Ch.  Not sure what it stands for but it could mean the road from hell.  I only had to go 44 km but it took me 1 1/2 hours. (more…)

Off to Powell River

Friday, May 11th, 2012

Spent a day and a half driving to Powell River up the Sunshine Coast highway or 101 as it is known.  Such a beautiful drive, but very steep hills and sharp corners keep you on your toes.  (more…)
